SN Hollis
Artist | Hobbyist | Film & Animation
i'm sam.

i draw stuff and write things. i'm hoping to be a published author/graphic novelist one day. i have a lot of ideas and way too many characters to keep track of. when i'm not writing my own overly complicated dribble, i'm head-cannoning and AUing my favourite fictional characters to a ludicrous extreme.

i study many things for fun in what little spare time i ever actually have: psychology, sociology, politics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, meteorology, linguistics, literature/grammar/writing, colour theory/art/illustration/animation/comics, nutrition, CONSERVATION, general math, etc.

i went to college for mental health & addictions counseling/social work, graphic design, psychology, and entrepreneurial business studies. i plan to go back to school for illustration/animation in the future and hopefully publish novels/comics one day. if that doesn't work out, i want to go into environmental/weather research and conservation, perhaps be a conservation officer, park ranger, and/or storm chaser/weather researcher.

my pen name for most of my written work is SNHollis, so if you see that around, it's not anybody else other than yours truly.
with gravity falls coming to an end this coming monday, i've found myself looking back on how i was introduced to it and how much it has impacted my life.

i kept seeing these gifsets on tumblr featuring a weird, hyperactive little girl and her pet pig, and i just knew i had to find what they were from. i binge watched all of the episodes that were already available, and eagerly awaited season 2.

gravity falls got me back into drawing and writing again, which has helped change my entire life. i was in a really bad place and this show helped get me through that. it helped me bond with my younger siblings again, and even gave me the confidence to cosplay in public at comicon for the first time ever.

for some reason, this show got me re-interested in stephen king's writing again, and now i finally have that large stephen king collection i always dreamt of having. it helped my story-writing and character-development immensely.

it is bittersweet to say goodbye, so i will just say goodnight instead.

Goodnight Gravity Falls, and thank you Alex Hirsch & Team, you've given my life meaning again.
